2009/2010 Winter Steelhead Clinic

Winter steelhead fishing doesn’t have to be intimidating or confusing. The methods are intuitive and practical once they’re learned, ingested and applied. We want to help demystify fly fishing for winters, and help you catch more fish. Anglers are more effective when they cover the river with confidence and poise. This class will leave you more knowledgeable and more confident in your ability to consistently hook winter steelhead on a swung fly.

This is a fishing class and casting class. We’ll focus primarily on presentation, but also address technique, fish holding water and the appropriate equipment for pursuing winter steelhead. We’ll be floating the Clackamas River from Mciver park to Barton Park, putting you in actual fishing situations and demonstrating the best approaches for each situation. This is a unique opportunity to learn about winter steelhead angling from experienced instructors and fisherman, on the water and in the elements. Lunch will be provided.
