Good friend and longtime Burkheimer angler, Tom M. just sent us this report from the field.
"Kerry and Nate,
This fish weighed 27 lbs. and I caught it on the ***** ***** with a #6 Stonefly attached to a Rio Steelhead Scandi. The rod was my 8128-4 Burkheimer which was a great option on the tight quarters of this tributary.
We used a full range of Burkheimer rods from the little 8128-4 to the 9145-4 and the 9135-4 - my new favorite along with the 8139-4.
The 9135-4 was a potent weapon on the bigger waters and strong winds we encountered on the lower river. The line of choice for the lower river was the Guideline Triple D Float/Hover/Intermediate cut to 630 grains. With this set up I was unaffected by the wind.
Thanks for all the good work at Burkheimer fly rods. The rods attracted a lot of attention and admiration from other anglers and guides - as they always do wherever I take them."
Thanks for the report and the kind words, Tom. My, oh, my what a beautiful fish!
