Our Goal is Simple: To Design and Manufacture the Finest Fly Rods in the World.
Ok, this is your chance to get in on 5 full days of fishing for fresh BC Chromers in one of the world’s finest Steelheading destinations. Join C F Burkheimer Spey Casting Instructor and Steelhead Guide Brian Styskal for a Steelhead symposium and Spey casting seminar in beautiful Skeena Country.
Many of us in the Burkheimer shop grew up as trout bums, and that fire still burns. Our trout rods are very close to our heart and they get lots of R&D attention on the water. These rods are designed to cover a variety of conditions. They are delicate so short, precise casts to sipping fish are controlled and accurate.
Steelhead and spey flies on the Thompson? Got it. Madison river browns and big sculpin patterns? Check. Stripers eating clousers in the surf? You bet. These rods aren’t just for atlantic salmon anymore, and our rods will do it all.
And they’ll do it well.
We live in steelhead country and breathe steelhead air, so broad tailouts and bouldered runs are the places we call home. Burkheimer steelhead rods are built to handle a wide range of tasks, from throwing long casts with narrow loops, to handling dense sink tips and big flies.
Our customers are still discovering that CF Burkheimer salt water models, despite their trout rod like in the hand feel have the guts to go toe-to-toe with the meanest of gamefish.
Our instruction philosophy may differ from what most anglers have been familiar with. We strive not only to explain how the cast works, but also why the cast works. To explain not only how to present the fly, but why that presentation is desirable and effective. We’ve learned that anglers can learn and apply skills more easily if the physics and the reasoning behind the methods are understood.
